I play the position nobody claps for.
I'm Aishan — born in Sri Lanka on July 13, 2007, and now living and playing in Ontario, Canada. Football came with me across an ocean, and it is still the thing I organise my week around.
I sit in front of the back four for Richmond Hill Soccer Club in the Ontario Premier League. A holding midfielder's job is to make the game boring for the other team: take the space away before the pass is on, win it back, and put the ball into a player who can hurt them.
When the shape asks for more, I push on into midfield, and I've played the left wing often enough to be dangerous there too. Whatever the shirt number says, the standard is the same.
